About Us

Within the profound heart of the ancient city of Pingyao, a living art form was born – Pingyao polished lacquerware.  It is not merely an object, but a crystallization of time and craftsmanship.
Every piece of lacquerware begins with a dialogue between lacquer and time. Using precious natural lacquer, it undergoes hundreds of processes, including applying hemp fiber and ash, repeated drying, lacquering, and painting. But the most magical and essential element lies in the "polishing"—the craftsman uses only their palm, dipped in linseed oil and fine ash, to repeatedly polish the surface hundreds of thousands of times over several days. The warmth of the palm awakens the deepest luster of the lacquer, ultimately revealing a texture that is as smooth as jade and as reflective as a mirror. This luster is incomparable to chemical coatings; it is understated, profound, and enduring.
